I’m leaving a one-star review for WASP-76b because the weather is a total safety hazard. This giant planet is so close to its star that the 'day' side literally boils solid iron into a metallic mist.

Massive winds then shove that iron steam over to the cooler 'night' side. Once it hits the shade, the metal condenses and falls as actual liquid rain.

Good luck finding an umbrella that doesn't melt instantly. It’s a nightmare for the wardrobe, and frankly, the commute is impossible.

Wait, how hot is it to actually turn metal into a mist?

We’re talking a blistering 2,400 degrees Celsius. For context, your kitchen oven maxes out at 250. This isn't just uncomfortable; it’s the kind of heat that makes atoms lose their minds and stop being solid.

At this temperature, iron doesn't just melt like a candle. It evaporates into a metallic steam, exactly like water boiling off a stove, but significantly more lethal for your lungs.

You’re essentially trapped in a planetary-scale blast furnace. The radiation from the nearby star is so aggressive it’s constantly cooking the atmosphere, ensuring you'll never need a space-heater, or a pulse.

Just how close is this planet to be getting that toasted?

The commute is a nightmare because it's practically hugging the star. WASP-76b is so close that it completes a full 'year' in about 1.8 Earth days. You can't even finish a nap without the seasons changing.

Because of this proximity, the star’s gravity has the planet in a permanent chokehold called tidal locking. One side is forced to stare at that nuclear furnace forever, while the other is stuck in the freezing dark.

It’s a total management failure. You’re either getting vaporized on the day side or pelted by metal rain in the shade. Honestly, the lack of a temperate zone is a dealbreaker.

Can't I just stay on the line between the light and dark sides?

You’re thinking of a nice, breezy sunset strip, but the 'twilight zone' here is a logistical disaster. Because one side is a furnace and the other is a freezer, the planet is basically a giant, broken air conditioner.
