Aye, they’re spent. You’ve squeezed every drop of life out of them for a bit of crumble. There’s no coming back from that kind of exhaustion; they’ve got nothing left in the tank to survive another winter.
Most growers just chuck 'em on the compost heap or plow them back into the dirt to rot. It’s a one-shot deal—you trade the plant’s entire future for that one flush of pink gold.
Bless your heart, but no. It’s not like they’re just a bit peckish. That darkness-induced sprint is so violent it actually ruptures the plant's internal structure. You’ve pushed the biological 'turbo' button until the engine melted.
The 'crown'—the brain of the root—becomes a mushy, hollowed-out mess. Trying to revive a forced root is like trying to recharge a AA battery that’s already leaked its guts all over the kitchen floor.
