Imagine a luxury condo where the windows are permanently glued to face the landlord’s office. That’s the Moon. It’s tidally locked, meaning it rotates exactly once for every trip around Earth.

Gravity acts like a cosmic lease, stretching the Moon into a slight lemon shape. Earth’s pull grabs those bulges and drags them back, syncing the spin to the orbit.

It’s a total lack of privacy. One side gets a permanent view of us, while the far side is stuck in a perpetual, windowless storage unit.
