Wait, how do gut bacteria actually travel all the way to the brain?

Think of your veins and arteries as a massive, empty subway system. While you're alive, the blood flow is like a high-speed train that keeps these hitchhikers from loitering or setting up camp in the wrong places.

Pretty much. Your brain is a high-fat, high-protein sponge, making it the ultimate five-star buffet. They flood the tissue with more corrosive enzymes until your grey matter loses all its structural integrity.

Within days, the organ that held your memories and personality turns into a literal soup. It sloshes around inside your skull before eventually leaking out of your ears and nose as a greyish-black goop.

Think of it like an overstuffed suitcase. Eventually, the 'stitching' of your skin—the collagen fibers—can’t handle the bloat and simply gives way. It’s a literal rip along the natural folds of your body.
