Think of your braces as a high-end, stainless steel scaffolding for a literal garbage dump. Every time you eat, those tiny metal brackets act like microscopic nets, snagging bits of bread and meat that you’ll never reach with a casual swish of water.

Once trapped, that food sits in a 98-degree dark, wet cave. Bacteria swarm the site like vultures, gorging on the leftovers and pooping out corrosive acid and stinky sulfur compounds.

Wait, is that bacterial 'poop' actually strong enough to melt a tooth?
