Your tonsils are basically the body’s glitchiest lint traps. Instead of being smooth, they are covered in deep, jagged pits called crypts that act like biological pockets.

These crevices accidentally hoard a disgusting cocktail of dead cells, mucus, and leftover sandwich crumbs. Over time, this debris calcifies into hard, yellowish nuggets known as tonsil stones.

If internal nodes are sealed, how do they even catch the bad guys?

They filter 'lymph'—a clear, watery fluid that leaks out of your blood vessels to bathe your cells. Think of it as the body’s 'gray water' or internal drainage system.

Instead of catching sandwich crumbs, these nodes act like microscopic sieves for cellular waste and rogue pathogens that managed to sneak past the front gates and into the hallways.

Since this fluid is already inside the 'secure facility' of your tissues, it is strictly liquid. There is no physical trash because anything chunky enough to form a 'stone' would have caused a massive biological traffic jam long before reaching the node.
