Time is a badly manufactured watch, and at near-light speeds, the gears fly off the axle. When we smash particles, we expect a clean "snap" where everything happens at once. But physics is a messy horologist.
If two separate collisions happen in a tunnel, you might see them occur at the exact same moment. But to a particle zooming past, one happened ages before the other.
It’s not a delay; their "now" and your "now" are just different time zones. In this workshop, "at the same time" is a polite fiction.

If you managed to bypass the cosmic speed governor, the workshop would turn into a horror movie. You’d see the glass shatter on the floor before the clumsy apprentice even trips over his own feet.
It’s not just "fast travel"; it’s rewinding the film while it’s still playing. You’d be delivering the repaired watch to a customer who hasn't even bought it yet.
The universe forbids this because it hates a paradox. If you could beat light, you could technically kill your own grandfather, and then the whole shop—and you—would vanish in a puff of impossible logic.
Think of the particle as a tiny gear in our workshop. As you try to spin it faster and faster toward light speed, the universe starts playing a dirty trick: it makes the gear heavier and more stubborn to move.
It’s like the gear is absorbing your effort and turning it into 'bulk' instead of speed. The faster it goes, the more 'massive' it becomes, requiring even more force just to nudge it a tiny bit further.
To actually hit the speed of light, that tiny gear would become infinitely heavy. You’d need all the energy in the entire universe just to reach the limit, and even then, the cosmic engine would just stall out. The wall isn't made of bricks; it's made of pure, unmovable weight.
