It wasn't a grand conspiracy; it was just peak bureaucracy. During a 1970s storage crunch, technicians followed standard procedure and wiped 200,000 magnetic tapes to reuse them for new data.

It’s a weight-watcher's nightmare. NASA calculated every gram so the crew could actually blast off the Moon again. Adding a high-powered broadcast rig might have turned the mission into a one-way trip.

They chose the lightweight, choppy camera because it was better to have grainy footage than to leave the explorers stranded there forever with a professional studio setup.

How did they even have room for moon rocks if every gram counted?

To make room for those 47 pounds of lunar gravel, the astronauts turned the Moon into the galaxy's most expensive dumpster. They had to play a high-stakes game of 'keep or toss' where the loser stayed on the Moon forever.
